This delicate beauty is on one of the posts but is never robust. I must have done something wrong.

Originally this property was a farm and then a mechanic lived here and worked on the city buses. Where I co-incidently put my path was the original driveway. Dig down and a lot of hard gravel is found. A layer of soil had been laid over it. I suspect that is what ails poor Joan.

This is one of the reasons for the choice of other plants.
